Haiku Hattie's Revenge
Haiku Hattie was mad
Her Love had left her in
spite
Big mistake, made he!
Hattie was cunning
smart as God, one lover claimed
Not one to just dump
She plotted at night
the plan, it had to be right
so...patient, was she
Her ex love so blind
Too dumb to know Hattie's
skill
at wielding a knife
He found a new love
wooed her, won her--so charming
Brought roses each day
Hattie kept good watch
as he spun the old sweet
spiel
Words plump with honey
One warm rainy night,
twelve roses clasped in his
hand,
dear Hattie stepped out
Stood blocking his way
A cheerful grin on her face
Feet firmly in place
'No Hattie please', he cried,
spotting that very large
knife.
Tossed roses to flee.
Hattie was quicker,
grabbed that man by the
collar.
thrust out that sharp knife
He gasped, turned quite pale.
Quaked in his boots at the
sight
of her and that knife
The silence drew out
He peeked, saw the roses chopped,
not he--such relief
Thinking himself safe,
offered his most winning smile
Could Hattie resist?
But Hattie was sly
No wasted chopping for her
the planned time had come
She picked up the stalks
put their sweet thorns to
good use
Stuck where? We'll not say
But let this dire tale
be a warning to all men
and all who betray
Beware of false words
and great promises forgot
.........For Hattie still
waits
